There has been some issues with students riding the school bus with One Trip Passes ($3.00 orange passes). This is a liability for Lamorinda Bus, for students and for the schools and districts. Each bus pass is suppose to be filled out, signed and dated by a parent. This rule is written on the back side of each bus pass. Drivers have been instructed not to transport students with blank bus passes. If you wish your child to purchase a same day bus pass please send a note with your child to the office giving your permission for them to do so along with the following information: date, name, address, grade, emergency phone#, bus stop, school and route and parent signature. If you have any questions, please contact Lamorinda Bus at 299-3216.
If your child has any medication in the school office from last year, please stop by the office and pick it up. If your child needs to take medication during the school day, new forms need to be filled out and kept on file in the office. Students are not permitted to have any type (over the counter or prescription) of medication in their possession for the safety of the student(s).
Each time your child misses school for any reason (sick, vacation, others) the Lafayette School District loses $44 per day in revenues from the state. Attendance in school is best for your child’s education. If your child is ill, keep him/her home until well enough to return to school. If you must take your child on a trip for 5 days or more, ask your school to provide him with an Independent Study packet (please give the school at least 2 weeks’ notice for an Independent Study request) to help him keep up with his studies while gone. Doing so is a WIN-WIN scenario. Your child keeps pace with his classes and is considered PRESENT on those days (NOT ABSENT) for State funding purposes. However, for absences less than five days or absences greater than 5 days without a completed Independent Study, your child misses invaluable instruction time and the state withholds funding from the District at $44/day. The District strongly recommends that trips and vacations be scheduled during non-school days.
This is BEST, firstly, for your children, our students and secondly, for the District especially amidst persistent State funding cuts.
Individual tank tops must have 2 – inch shoulder straps.
Skirts, shorts, skorts, and dresses must reach the tips of the students’ longest finger when arms are at rest at students’ sides.
The following ARE NOT appropriate or allowed:
- Halter and crop tops which reveal the midriff
- Clothing which reveals undergarments
- Clothing with holes
- Unusual, distracting clothing and accessories.
- Clothing with drug, alcohol, sexual, or violent themes
- Clothing which puts forth a derogatory or inflammatory message.
If you ride your bike on the trail to school and are exiting on Topper Lane/School Street, PLEASE stay on the sidewalk and cross at the crossing guard crosswalk. It is not safe for you to cross at the parking lot. It is very busy in the morning with cars coming in and out of the parking lot and creates a safety hazard.
If your child is going to be leaving school due to an appointment, please remember to send a note to the office before school starts. Please state in the note: child's name, grade and the time that they will be leaving. If your child is going to be walking to an appointment OR if someone other than yourself is going to pick them up, we need to have a note stating so. Also, if your child arrives late to school for any reason, you need to bring your child to the office to sign them in or send a note with them. We appreciate your cooperation!
Just a reminder ~ Students may use the office or classroom telephones with permission. Cell phones are never to be used or turned on during school hours, and inappropriate use will result in a one day confiscation. Cell phones will be retuned at the end of the day resulting in a one hour after school detention.
These policies will be and have been in the past reviewed with the students by our Administrators. Please remind your student to abide by the Stanley policies.
